Hello, my name is Jan Culpepper and for over 20 years I have been in the counseling field working toward empowering others and providing resources to assist them on their journey of healing. After 15 years on the coast of OBX, NC I moved to Western North Carolina where we are loving serving our new community in the mountains.

 

I have been a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC 10555) for over 7 years. I believe therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the client; a relationship where we both bring in our strengths and knowledge to increase your mental wellbeing and quality of your life. I encourage all my clients to be proactive in the direction of their therapy to assure it meets their unique needs.

I specialize in trauma in children, adolescents, and adults. I received my Clinical Certified Trauma Professional II (CCTP-II) for adults through the International Association of Trauma Professionals which includes PTSD treatment for those in combat.  I am also certified in SITCAP- Level 1 (Structured Sensory Interventions for Traumatized Children, Adolescents and Parents) as a Certified Trauma Practitioner- Clinical CTP which enables me to use evidenced based techniques for children and adolescents.

I have also been trained in techniques to equip me in treating my clients struggling with anxiety, bi-polar, depression, attachment issues, and mental health issues (see below).   I am trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Christian Counseling, Mindfulness Based CBT, crisis counseling, art therapy, Seven Challenges (substance abuse) and TF-CBT (trauma focused therapy) will allow me to work with you on providing the best therapy to meet your goals.
